Writer's Blog 2009-11-09

It has been pointed out to me, and rightful so, that reviewing Babylon 5 might not be the best of ideas for me. The reason for this is that I would always be approaching it as my favourite programme, so I am unlikely to be completely objective.
If someone you like does something you don't, you can over look it. However if someone you don't like does something you don't like then your may make it one more reason why you don't like them. So Babylon 5 will not be being reviewed here any longer. Instead I will get my teeth into something that I can criticize - that is more fun.
The new Star Trek film, for instance seems to have been very popular and enjoyed by a lot of people. I thought it was terrible! I have only seen it once, and would need to see it again in order to do justice to a review of it, but I remember thinking at the time that their was plenty in it for non Star Trek fans to find fault with as well as for Star Trek fans.
I recently went to see "Up," this is a brilliant film which I thoroughly recommend. It is odd that a film about a man and his floating house can hang together better than the Star Trek film!
So for what its worth here are the Star Trek films in my order, best to worst, in my opinion.

  1. Star Trek: First Contact

  2. Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country

  3. Star Trek: The Wrath of Kharn

  4. Star Trek: Insurrection

  5. Star Trek: The Voyage Home

  6. Star Trek: Generations

  7. Star Trek: The Search for Spock

  8. Star Trek: The Motion Picture

  9. Star Trek: The Final Frontier

  10. Star Trek: Nemesis

  11. Star Trek

There's my two cents worth. So reviews may come soon, there will be a delay in the next chapter of Rolling Shadows owing to the need for proof reading.

"The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote." Ambassador Kosh, Babylon 5.
